modified stem in a plant is a stem that is abnormal, that is, one that does not have the traditional vertical and erect stem. Some modified stems can hold/ slash absorb extra water. They perform many distinct and unique functions. Bulbs are modified stems. Here is an small baby onion plant, which is a bulb.
