Big Idea 4: Biological systems interact, and these systems and their interactions possess complex properties

#5- Commensalism is a symbiotic relationship in which one organism benefits but the other is neither helped nor harmed. In this picture, moss shares the nutrients the the tree gets but the amount shared is insignificant and will not damage the tree
#6-  competition between species occurs when  species  scrimmage for a particular resource that is in short supply. In this picture, birds swarm the area where people are at because they are just throwing food and the birds know that the humans don't have much food on them so a competition for food begins.

#8-  An endosperm is a nutrient rich tissue formed by the union of a sperm cell with two polar nuclui during double fertilization, which provides nourishment to the developing embryo in angiosperm seeds. The cob on the corn is an example of an endosperm because the cob is nutrient rich and it provides the seeds(the corn) nourishment.

#9- introduced species are species moved by humans, either intentionally or accidentall, from its native location to a new geographic region. The snake in this aquarium is an intoduced species has been removed from its native habitat  to the zoo and has been put into an artificial habitat that mimics the habitat that this snake originated.

#10- A keystone specie is a species that is not necessarily abundant in a community yet exerts strong control on community structure by the nature of its ecological role or niche. This lion is a keystone specie because it is not quite abundant in its native habitat, it maintains strong influence among the local population of wildlife.
#11-  a k-strategist is where an animal produces offspring and provides nourishment until no longer needed. Horses are k-strategist because the assist their offspring with survival until they mature to the point they may assist themselves.

#17- Population is a localized group of individuals that belong to the same biological species. Clovers are a good example because they grow in abundance during spring time they belong to the same biological species.

#18- predation is an interaction between species in which one species, the predator, eats the other, the prey. A snake is an example because it generally hunts prey such as rabbits and mice.

#19- A r-strategist is a specie that produces offspring but does not provide nourishment but is given nourishment need to survive until it reaches a certain age. Most fish lay a large abundance of eggs and those eggs contain what the offspring will need until a certain age.

#20- succession is the replacement of one dominant community until a stable climax community is formed. In this picture,  the dominant trees succeeded some of the other trees which end up falling over into the creek.
