Big Idea 2 Part 2

Nuts are high in unsaturated fats.  In unsaturated fats, the fatty acid tails are kinked meaning they cannot stack.
Butter is high in saturated fat.  In saturated fat, the fatty acid chain is straight so they can stack up easily.
This yogurt contains sugar which will by broken down into ATP by our digestive system.  ATP is what powers all of our bodies' functions.
Pasta is high in carbohydrates.  Carbs are complex sugars that are broken down and give us energy.
This lettuce is has lots of cellulose in it.  Cellulose is what makes the cell wall of plants.  Humans cannot digest it.
This sugar would be broken down into ATP by our bodies.  This process occurs in the cytosol and mitochondria, it is called glycolysis.
The ice melting on this plate is an example of entropy.  Entropy is when molecules go from more to less organized.

anabolic - to construct a large molecule from smaller units

catabolic - to break down a molecule into smaller sections

isotonic - two different solutions having equal water potential
