Hypotonic is where there is less concentration, say in a plant, than the outsided soluthion. The result is water having the tendency to move into the cell. The cell wall and contractile vacuoles help the cell bot burst. But the cell is healthily filled with water. This state is called tugidity. Here is a pic of a turgis plant.
