Big Idea 3

These flamingos are exhibiting flock behavior because they are sticking together as a group.
The color of this fish is a phenotype.  The genes of the fish code for a specific visible trait, or phenotype.
This lizard is an example of a eukaryote.  Eukaryotes are organisms with a nucleus surrounded by a nuclear membrane.
This snake is an example of diploid cells.  Diploid cells are also known as somatic cells, they contain a chromosome from both the mother and the father or the organism.
This snake contains haploid sex cells such as sperm cells or egg cells.  Haploid cells contain chromosomes from only one parent.
This turtle is constantly going through mitosis.  Mitosis is the division of diploid somatic cells.
If this frog is male then it's going though meiosis.  Meiosis is the division of sex cells such as sperm cells.  Males are continually going through this process.

This snake contains gametes.  Games are haploid cells such as sperm or egg cells.  Gametes are used in reproduction.
Ethylene is a hydrocarbon that is released by fruit, such as apples, when they ripen.  Ethylene also causes other fruits exposed to it to ripen.
While the legless llizard may not be a true example of Batesian mimicry, it illustrates the concept in which a non threatening animal looks like a threatening animal and predators therefore avoid it.
