Big Idea 3

1) diploid: Something that is diploid contains two sets of chromosomes. This is a picture of somebody's karyotype taken from my friend's dad's lab. There are two copies of each chromosome.

2) ethylene: Ethylene is a ripening chemical. These bananas have become ripe from ethylene.

7) evidence of different alleles for same trait: This is a picture of my friends' moms' eye. It has a light brown color because of the certain alleles.

7) evidence of different alleles for same trait: This is a picture of my eye and it is brownish-green because of the certain alleles for that gene.

7) evidence of different alleles for same trait: This is my friends eye and it is blue because of the certain alleles that happened to be chosen for that gene.

9) flock, herd, or schooling: This picture shows multiple koi fish and fish go around in schools. This shows schooling.

15) mitosis: Mitosis is cells dividing into a perfect copy. This picture is of scabs from my friend's cuts. These scabs are here because of skin cells dividing to cover the clot.

16) meiosis: Meiosis is the splitting and replicating of sex cells but are never the exact same due to crossing over. This only happens to sex cells which have X and Y chromosomes.

17) phenotype: Phenotype is the physical appearance of something due to its genetic makeup. This flower is pink because of its alleles on the right gene for appearance.

21) tropism: Tropism is a certain action due to a stimulus. These cattails hang over the water because of the stimulus of water. Since they need the water to survive, they lean towards it.
