Big Idea 2 (numbers 11-20)

Big Idea 2 (continued)

2, Anabolic. this animal represents anabolic reactions because it takes in the molecules it needs and then builds amino acids out of those, which are essential.

12, Ectothermy. this alligator is an ectothermic animal because it cannot regulate its body temperature and must rely on outside conditions to regulate its temperature.

13, Endothermy. this jaguar is an endothermic animal because, like us humans, it can regulate its body temperature internally and does not have to rely on outside conditions or put extra work into controlling its body temperature.

7, Catabolic. this ostrich represents a catabolic reaction that happens inside of it when it breaks down the energy molecules and glucose, it is a catabolic reaction because it breaks down.

24, Hydrophobic. the olive oil in this cup is hydrophobic because it does not like water and hence stays as one to avoid coming in contact with it.

28, Lactic acid. this yogurt represents lactic acid, which is also produced in muscle tissue during strenuous activities.

29, Long Day Plant. this semi dead grass represents a long day plant, which is an organism that depends on the length of a day or night for it to grow.

35, Territorial Behavior. this tiger represents an animal that is extremely territorial. when it feels its territory is being invaded it will attack and defend what it believes is its own.

22, Hypotonic. this gummy bear in the cup of water is hypotonic because its molarity is higher than that of the cup itself. water flows from hyper to hypo so the gummy bear will expand until it burst because it is trying to balance the molarities between the substances.

23, Hydrophilic. this salt is a representation of hydrophilic because it mixes well with water and becomes dissolved in it easily.
