Big Idea 4, #11, 19. K-Strategist and R-Strategist. A K strategist is a species that favors quality over quantity of offspring. They have fewer offspring, but parent and protect them more. This cat is an example of this, as they have fewer offspring and parent them until they are ready to go out on their own. On the other hand, an r strategist favors quantity over quality. They have many offspring and don't parent them as much as K strategists. The hamster is an example of this, because it and other rodents have many offspring, but don't care forthem as much as k strategists.
