(Big Idea 1 #39 Tetrapod)  A tetrapod is any vertebrate with two pairs of limbs.  This dog is a tetrapod because it has two pairs of legs.
(Big Idea 4 #5 Commensalism)  Commensalism is a symbiotic relationship in which one organism benefits while the other organism receives no benefit or harm.  The moss on the tree displays commensalism because the moss is helped by being able to acquire more sunlight, and the tree is neither harmed nor helped by the presence of the moss.

(Big Idea 4 #17 Population)  Population is a localized group of organisms that are capable of inbreeding and producing fertile offspring.  These trees are an example of a population because they are able to inbreed and produce fertile offspring.
(Big Idea 1 #14 Chordate)  A chordate is an animal that has, at some point in their development, a notochord, dorsal, hollow nerve chords pharyngeal slits or clefts, or a post anal tail.  This cat is a chordate because it has a notochord and also because it has a post anal tail.

(Big Idea 1 #3 Adaptation of a plant)  An adaptation of a plant is any trait that wins out in plants that help the plant to survive.  This pine tree has adapted because of its pine needles.  The needles do not allow for much snow to accumulate, which helps it to survive.

(Big Idea 1 #23 Bilateral symmetry)  Bi lateral symmetry is a characterizing body form with a central longitudinal  plane that divides something into two equal and opposite halves.  These hands are structurally the same except they are opposites .

(Big Idea 1 # 38 Seedless vascular plant)  A seedless vascular plant is of or pertaining to mosses and ferns.  This moss is an example of a seedless vascular plant.

(Big Idea 1 # 20 Fungi)  Fungi are eukaryotes that include organisms that absorb nutrients after decomposing organic material.  This mushroom is a fungus because it is a eukaryotic organism that lives through absorbing nutrients from other organisms, such as the grass.

(Big Idea 1 # 6 Angiosperm)  An angiosperm is a flowering plant which forms seeds inside of a protective chamber.  This orange tree is an angiosperm because the seeds are inside of the orange, a protective chamber.

(Big Idea 1# 7 Annelid)  Annelids are segmented worms that belong to the phylum Annelida.  This earthworm is an annelid because of its segmented body structure and the fact that it is a worm.

(Big Idea 1 # 30 modified stem of a plant)  A modified stem of a plant is an organ that consists of an alternating system of nodes.  These onions are modified stems because they have many modified leaves attached to the short stem.

(Big Idea 1 #29 modified root of a plant)  A modified root of a plant is a plant root that store food and water in their roots.  These potatoes are roots that have nutrients stored in them.

(Big Idea 3 #17 Phenotype)  A phenotype is the physiological traits of an organism which are determined by the organisms genotype.  These apples show different colors.  This means that they have different phenotypes.

(Big Idea 1 #2 Adaptation of an animal)  An adaptation of an animal is any trait that is naturally selected over time that gives the animal some sort of advantage.  The squirrel in the tree has adapted by having claws that enable it to climb.

(Big Idea 2 # 16 Fermentation)  Fermentation is a catabolic process that makes a limited amount of ATP from glucose without an electron transport chain.  This alcohol is made by fermenting the juice of grapes.

(Big Idea 1 # 25 Gymnosperm leaf)  A gymnosperm is a plant that bears naked seeds.  These pine tree leaves are gymnosperm leaves.

(Big Idea 2 #32 Saturated fat)  Saturated fat is a fatty acid that is straight which are connected by a single bond which maximizes the amount of hydrogens that can attach to carbons.  The chip bag food label shows that the chips contain saturated fatty acids.

(Big Idea 2 #4 Autotroph)  An autotroph is an organism that obtains organic food molecules without eating other organisms.  Autotrophs use energy from the sun or from oxidation of inorganic substances.  This tree is an autotroph because it makes its own food.

(Big Idea 2 # 6 Carbohydrate)  A carbohydrate is a monosaccharide or a dissaccharide sugar.  This bread shows carbohydrates because it is made up of dimers.
