Big Idea 2-10


10) Cohesion of water- is water's tendency to stick to itself because of hydrogen bonds. The image is of a cup filled past the top with water. The reason the water hasn't gone on the table is because of adhesion and cohesion. The water sticks to the edge of the cup. But the water also sticks to itself, cohesion, so that it can't flow out of the cup unless the weak bonds holding the water together are disturbed.
