Transpiration is the process performed by plants to move water absorbed by the roots up through the stem of the plant and to the leaves and upper reaches of the plant. This is done by three processes: evaporation, cohesion, and adhesion. Because the plants need sun, they lose water in the leaves to the sun's evaporating rays. This pulls on the water in the stem through cohesion. Adhesion prevents the water from falling back down. This Pittosporum Tenuifolium performs transpiration in order to survive.
