7) Catabolic- a release of energy when a substance is broken down. I chose party snaps to represent catabolic reactions because party snaps involve a release of energy. After you throw the party snapper heat and energy is released it and it explodes. Similarly, in catabolic reactions some energy is put in to start the reaction, but then the substance breaks apart and more energy is released.
