Big Idea 3: Term 5

Gamete: A gamete is a reproductive cell that  
contains a single copy of each chromosome. 
 Zygotes formed when two gamete nuclei fuse 
would have two copies per chromosome. In 
the case of these flowers, the female gametes
are formed in the ovule, within the pistil. The
male gametes are found in the pollen.
