Big Idea 3-7


Evidence of different alleles for the same trait can be found among physical characteristics, such as eye color or skin color. Alleles are defined as alternate versions of a gene. Often some alleles as recessive, which are not expressed in an individual, while others are dominant and expressed. Here, three types of hair color are being expressed due to a combination of alleles from two sets of parents for each person. Blond, brown, and black hair typed are shown.
