Big Idea 2-6



Carbohydrates are one of the four major macromolecules. They are represented as monosaccharides, such as some sugars, disaccharides, and polysaccharides. They serve as a form of energy storage, structural components and constitute a part of DNA and RNA as deoxyribose and ribose, respectively. Fruits such as oranges are part of many foods with carbohydrates.
