Big Idea 2: #15


15. Enzymes are organisms' catalysts. By lowering the required energy to make a reaction occur, enzymes are able to catalyze reactions. Enzymes lower the required energy by changing the shape of a substrate, which weakens the bonds of the substrate and consequently, reduces the required energy. This Ilex Vomitoria has enzymes which allow the plant to function.
