1. Diploid: A diploid cell contains 2n chromosomal sets. Raspberries are an example with fully developed sets of chromosomes and have diploid cells.
2. Ethylene: Ethylene is a plant hormone widely used in chemical industry. It is used in the ripening of fruit, like in the apple above, which contains ethylene in order to produce a ripe fruit.
7. Evidence of Different Alleles: Evidence of different alleles mean that the organism expresses the evidence that it contains more than one different forms of a gene. The cat in this picture contains more than one allele and it is evident in his gray, black, brown, and white fur.
8. Flock, Herd, or Schooling: A herd is a large group of hoover animals that migrate, live, feed, or are kept as livestock together. There are a great amount of goats, but only a few are seen in this picture, which are part of a large herd.
10. Genetically Modified Organism (GMO): A genetically modified organism is an organism whose genetic material has been altered by genetic engineering techniques. The bell pepper in this picture is a genetically modified organism. Most vegetables bought from grocery stores (excluding organic only) are genetically modified to be larger, taste better, and be more appealing.
14. Mitosis: Mitosis is the process in which a cell separates its chromosomes from its nucleus into two identical sets of chromosomes. The onion in the picture demonstrates mitosis by the peeling of the layers which is only possible by the chromosomes separating.
16. Phenotype: Phenotype is the physical trait expressed and shown in an organism. The hair in this picture has a blond and light brown phenotype expressed in its hair molecules.
18. Prokaryote: A prokaryote is a bacteria or an archaebacteria which does not contain membrane bound organelles or a nucleus, but rather a nucleoide which is the general area where genetic material is stored. This cheese is a bacteria which is an example of prokaryotic cells.
19. Seed Dispersal Method: Seed dispersal methods is the movement or transport of seeds away from the parent plant. Acorns come from an oak tree like shown in the picture. They are original attached to the oak tree, but by various means, they end up dispersing away and used as a food supply by animals too.
