33. stomata:: Stomata are tiny holes in the leaf of a plant that allows carbon dioxide to enter into the leaf and oxygen to leave the leaf. In hot conditions, water can also leave the leaf via the stomata. The alder shrub in the picture has leaves which contain stomata.
