This is a picture of a wood-decay fungus, making it a fungi as the cell walls of the fungi's cells are made of chitin and contain cellulose. We know this is a fungus as it is growing off of the side of the log in the picture. We know it is not a plant because plants grow off of soil, not right off of a solid surface like this fungus is doing.
