6. population: all inhabitants of a certain area using the same space and resources. At the pond by my house a large population of water dwelling birds, fish, coyotes, and pheasants lives. The whole population uses the pond and its resources to their advantage. The pond has become a center of the neighborhood because it is filled with so much life.
