6. flock: a large group of birds sometimes of multiple species that feed, nest, and travel together. The point of a flock is for safety. Multiple eyes can search at one time for predators. One flock will act together as if it is one organism. Here you can see a flock of coots all entering the water at the same time. These coots all act as a whole together including when they sleep at night. Their numbers really protect the individual from predation.
