Big Idea 1

16. coelomate: A coelomate is an organism that has an internal body cavity, also known as a coelem. A coelem is used to house inner organs and allow them space to grow and change. The coelem also helps with compartmentalization; separating respiration from digestion. The Sumatran Tiger in the picture has a coelem that houses internal organs, which makes it a coelomate.
