17. glycogen: In animals, glycogen is used as energy storage. Glycogen is a polysaccharide that has many branched amylose chains. Glycogen is mainly stored in the liver and muscles of animals. The turtle in the picture is a good example of glycogen. The turtle has a liver in which glycogen is stored, allowing it to use that energy when it is needed.
